Indian equity benchmarks, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, halted their losing streak on Tuesday, buoyed by selective buying interest. However, both indices surrendered a significant portion of their intraday gains as the latest flare-up in the Russia-Ukraine war dampened sentiment.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,550 level, a premium of nearly 35 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The Nifty Bank index closed on a note on Tuesday. Shares of Federal Bank Ltd.(up 3.2 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 2.18 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 2.08 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 1.16 per cent) and Axis Bank Ltd.

M&M, Trent, Tech Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Eicher Motors are among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers are SBI Life Insurance, HDFC Life, Reliance Industries, Tata Consumer and Hindalco.
